Six scenarios

Flight scenarios with real terrain, night and weather

From farmland to the cliffs, with the relief you actually fly over.

Each scenario is a piece of terrain with its relief, its vegetation and its obstacles, and the physics uses it: the plane crashes into the hillside, water counts as ground and the wind rising up the slopes holds you up if you know where to look for it.

Olive-grove farmland at sunset with the VTOL aircraft in flight
Farmland
Olive groves, airstrip and village. The classic place to learn.
Cliff above the sea with a beach and the plane flying alongside the cliff face
Coastal cliff
Sea breeze rising up the cliff face: slope soaring.
Mountain range with rocky ridges and a valley with a river
Mountains and valley
Ridges, pine forest and a valley to practise the return home.
River canyon between rock walls
River canyon
Walls up close and a footbridge: precision and nerves.
Quarry with stepped benches
Quarry
Stepped benches for vertical landings in a tricky spot.
Concrete dam with the reservoir behind it
Dam and reservoir
Concrete wall and water: transitions over the reservoir.

By day over real terrain. By night, with navigation lights.

Night flight with red and green navigation lights and a white landing light, with a lit village and a road with street lamps on the horizon

Real terrain

Real relief anywhere in the world and aerial imagery in Spain, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the USA. Search for your flying field or pick a well-known slope site.

Night mode

Navigation lights, landing light and lit villages and roads to find your way in the dark.

Time and weather

The sun moves with the time of day and the latitude of the site. And the weather changes while you fly: fronts, showers and thunderstorms with gust fronts.

Sound

Motors and props that rev up with the throttle, wind and rain. You can hear when something is not right.

Thunderstorm in the simulator: rain, reduced visibility and the METEO line with wind and gusts

New · weather, battery and world

The weather changes in flight. The battery feels it.

Choose changeable weather, a passing front or a summer thunderstorm and fly while it develops. The battery behaves like a real LiPo and the failsafe acts as it does in ArduPilot.

  • Fronts, showers and thunderstorms with gust fronts, lightning and thunder; the rain reduces visibility and wets the FPV camera lens
  • Voltage sag with cold and with load, worn or pre-warmed battery, and BATT_LOW / BATT_CRT failsafe with RTL or QLand
  • Real terrain anywhere in the world, with a search box and well-known slope sites: Dune du Pilat, Torrey Pines, Mam Tor…
  • Live weather for your site: wind, gusts, clouds, visibility and temperature from the METAR of the nearest aerodrome
  • Real air traffic in 3D (ADS-B): planes and helicopters flying near you right now, with see-and-avoid warnings
  • Slope soaring over real relief: the lift comes from the slope and the wind, and the simulator finds the best slope

What each scenario is for

The farmland is the place to learn; the cliff and the mountains, for slope soaring and the return home; the canyon and the quarry, for precision; the dam, for transitions over water. With real terrain you can rehearse at your own flying field before you go. Combine them with the training lessons and exercises or with the VTOL simulator.

Arm, transition, land. And let Captain Pitot tell you how to improve.
