ArduPilot .param analyzer

Upload your aircraft's parameter file and check in seconds for the errors that stop it arming or put the flight at risk: failsafes, battery, calibrations, outputs, motors and tilt. And, if you like, get Captain Pitot's AI report.

The file is analysed on the server and is not stored.

What it checks

Against the official documentation

Ranges, values and bits for around 5,900 ArduPlane and ArduCopter parameters, generated with ArduPilot's official script for versions 4.5.7, 4.6.3 and 4.7.2. Every warning links to its parameter on ardupilot.org.

Safety before flying

Arming checks, radio failsafe and its threshold against the throttle minimum, battery failsafes and thresholds, calibrations not yet done and a mode channel that clashes with other functions.

Outputs and frame

Duplicate or missing SERVOn_FUNCTION outputs, roll and pitch controls, motors according to Q_FRAME_CLASS or FRAME_CLASS, the tricopter tail servo and the order of MOT_SPIN_ARM and MOT_SPIN_MIN.

QuadPlane and tilt-rotor

Q_TILT_MASK, tilt servos, vectored yaw with TiltMotorFrontLeft and Right, Q_ASSIST_SPEED and the minimum, cruise and maximum airspeeds.

Captain Pitot's report

With AI: what aircraft it looks like, the risks by severity with what to do, what is already fine and what to practise. It only names parameters from your file or from the official documentation.

Compare two versions

Upload the .param from before and after a tuning change: you will see every difference and, in the report, whether the change makes sense.

Indicative review: it detects common mistakes and explains each parameter using the official ArduPilot documentation, but it does not replace the ground checks on your aircraft. AIRLAB FPV is not affiliated with ArduPilot.

Questions about the analyzer

What does the analyzer check?

It compares every parameter with the official ArduPilot documentation (ArduPlane and ArduCopter 4.5, 4.6 and 4.7): ranges and values, arming checks, radio, accelerometer and compass calibrations, battery and failsafes, mode channels, SERVOn_FUNCTION outputs, motors according to the frame, QuadPlane and tilt-rotor, and minimum, cruise and maximum airspeeds.

Is it free?

Yes. The automatic checks are free and need no sign-up. The AI report from Captain Pitot is free too: it only asks for your name and email, with a maximum of 3 reports per day.

Do you keep my .param file?

No. The file is analysed on the server and is not stored. If you request the AI report, your name, email, user type and a summary (aircraft type, version and number of errors and warnings) are stored, as explained in the privacy policy.

Which formats does it accept?

Mission Planner .param files (NAME,value), MAVProxy files (NAME value) and QGroundControl .params files.

Does it replace checking the configuration on the aircraft?

No. It is an indicative review that detects common mistakes and explains the parameters using the official documentation. Check every change on your aircraft and do the ground tests before flying.

Can I fly my .param?

Yes, inside the AIRLAB FPV simulator: the browser simulation applies the flight parameters it reproduces (airspeeds, transition, limits, failsafes and battery) and, with AIRLAB Connector on a Mac, you fly the real ArduPlane (SITL) with your whole .param.

Arm, transition, land. And let Captain Pitot tell you how to improve.
