Fly the drone simulator in 3D with VR goggles and your phone

Your phone in VR goggles and the flight in 3D.

You fly on the computer with your radio, as always, and watch it through a €15–35 phone VR headset, just like FPV goggles. You scan a QR code with your phone and within seconds you are in. And because the phone renders the scene itself, you see it in 3D, with real depth: something real FPV goggles cannot give you.

A pilot wearing a phone VR headset with the radio in his hands; beside him, what he sees: one image per eye with the plane and the OSD

It is not a video: the phone renders the same world.

The computer handles the physics, the radio, the autopilot and the instructor. The phone only receives the flight state, sixty times a second, over your home wifi, and renders the same scene at its own resolution. That is why it looks sharp with almost no lag. If you change aircraft, scenario or camera, the phone changes with you.

  • 3D on by default, with two cameras spaced like your eyes; one tap switches to 2D
  • Lens distortion correction, and the OSD inside each lens
  • Grid to adjust your headset: lens spacing, height and curvature
  • Also without goggles: the phone as a second screen for a friend or your instructor

€15–35 goggles

Any two-lens phone VR headset with focus and lens-distance adjustment. No controller needed.

Nothing to install

The phone opens a web page: scan the QR code, choose “VR goggles” and you are set. Added to the home screen, it shows full screen.

Minimal lag

Direct connection over your wifi between computer and phone, with no video servers in between. If the wifi drops, the flight on the computer carries on as normal.

Included

It costs nothing extra and does not use up your licence: the phone joins with the code your simulator gives you, no account needed.

In class and at home

Phone VR goggles give students the feeling of flying with goggles without buying any, and the phone also works as a second screen for the instructor. More on use in schools in drone pilot training.
